About Us

Kevin Pearman started flying in 1974 and is a seasoned pilot having flown thousands of hours as a charter pilot in his own aircraft. Kevin flew mainly a King Air and a Cessna 402, but has acquired time on 11 other types of aircraft.

In 1982, he swapped his aviation career for the business world, however, Kevin’s daughter, Shada shared his passion for flying and obtained her private pilot’s licence in 2004 when she then took her father flying – the first time he flew since 1982.

Kevin’s past memory of aviation was still crystal clear in his mind and he was shocked at the differences in the aviation standards as he remembered them to the way they are today.

“It was like going through a time warp in a Stephen King movie. Some things have improved, but others have certainly deteriorated from the way I remember things,” he says.

“I put it down to the attempt by the bureaucrats to improve things by generating more and more rules, regulations and concomitant paperwork and causing more problems than they have solved. From what I have seen, as long as paperwork is in order, the operation is fine, regardless of the standard produced,” he goes on to say.

Unimpressed with the standard of training and the standard of the maintenance of aircraft, Kevin purchased a Piper Tripacer for his daughter to fly instead of having her fly aircraft that he believed were not adequately maintained.

Being once again involved in aviation, the opportunity presented itself for Kevin to take over Aeroprecision which he jumped at in order to raise the bar and create a standard for others to follow.

A message from our CEO

Being involved in an industry for your whole life renders you blind to the steady degradation or improvements in standards. It’s like looking in a mirror, you hardly notice your aging process, but if you see someone whom you have not seen in thirty years, you remember them the way they were and certainly notice the changes in them.

I remember the standard of aviation back in the late 70’s and some things are better, but some aspects are definitely worse. I now have the opportunity to combine the best of the way I remember aviation to be with the improvements that have been made along the way.

It is my goal and commitment to steer Aeroprecision to being recognised as the highest standard in training in South Africa with a “no compromise” approach to the maintenance of the aircraft.

In the not too distant future, pilots who have obtained their licence from us will be guaranteed to shift to the front of the queue when it comes obtaining employment in the industry.
